Language-Dependent Release (Beta)Available from FirstSpirit Version 2025.9

Important The beta feature "Language-Dependent Release" is available by default.

The functionality Language-Dependent Release extends the release functionality of FirstSpirit. It allows objects to be released for individual languages. If multiple languages are maintained in a project and, for example, the English language is already ready for release while content in other languages is still being edited, the release can be targeted only for the English content.

Important The concepts underlying language-dependent release as well as the configuration needed to use the feature and the current limitations are explained here.

The functionality is explained here using a concrete example. For simplicity, an object is considered that consists of a language-dependent text field, "Title," and a language-independent image reference. In this example, the content is managed in two languages: German and English.

Example

Starting point

The starting point is a released version available in both German and English, containing the following elements:

  • A language-dependent title: "Vanille" (DE) and "Vanilla" (EN)
  • A language-independent image reference

Both languages are displayed as "Released."

Changes in one language

Now only the English-language title is changed to "Bourbon Vanilla." Both languages appear as "Modified."

Important Further details on the version-based "Modified"/"Released" status determination can be found here.

Furthermore, the language-independent image reference has been updated to point to a different image. Because the reference is language-independent, the new image appears in the preview for both English and German.

Release of one language

Now only the English language is released and published. The release is initiated by the editor via the corresponding Basic Workflow.

A "Release" version is created and labeled as "EN". When generating the "English" element, the changed title "Bourbon Vanilla" as well as the updated language-independent image reference are rendered. In German, on the other hand, the original title "Vanille" and the original image reference from the last released version are rendered.

Important For more details on the basic concept of versioning, please see here.

The English language now appears as "Released," while the German language still appears as "Modified."
