Snippet tab

The “Snippet” tab is used to define how pages that are based on this page template are to be displayed at some locations in SiteArchitect and ContentCreator (e.g., for search results). For this purpose, the variable names of input components are accessed from the Form tab.

The goal is not just to display a page with the name (i.e., depending on the hit, the page name, section name, dataset ID, etc.), but rather mirroring the respective object as accurately as possible using:

  • an image (in the “Thumbnail” area)
  • a title (in the “Label” area)
  • a section of text (in the “Extract” area)

instead of with just the name in order to reflect the particular object as much as possible. This gives the editor a clear presentation of the content of the search hit in order to find the most relevant hit more easily and to get to the object being searched for more quickly.

Multiple input components can be combined in order to be able to better adjust the output to the needs of the respective project and editors. In addition, methods that can be used with $CMS_VALUE(...)$ can be implemented. Accordingly, the use of entered editorial content for searching can be made to depend on the inputs. If an input component specified on the “Snippet” tab has not been filled by an editor, by default, the name is shown as the title and the path to the search hit is shown as a text excerpt. The path is shown independently in every case in ContentCreator.

You can find a detailed description of snippets under Template development / Snippets.

This tab is represented in the compact view by the icon (see Compact view of tabs (→Documentation FirstSpirit SiteArchitect)).
