Workflows
A workflow is a sequence of tasks that must be completed in a fixed, predefined structure. Due date deadlines and groups of authorized individuals can be defined for the respective tasks.
FirstSpirit makes a distinction between context-free and context-oriented workflows.
Context-free workflows are not bound to a particular object and can therefore be started “without context”, which means without being related to an object (e.g. “task assignment”).
Context-oriented workflows are bound to a particular object and are always started and executed in relation to this object (e.g. “release request”).
In FirstSpirit there are two integrated workflows known as Assign task and Request release. Additional project-specific workflows can be displayed and developed in the template store with the help of a graphical workflow editor.
For context-oriented workflow use, the workflows must first be released for each store in the permissions configuration for workflow permissions. Instances of workflows can then be started as context-oriented to each object within the FirstSpirit project.
