At this point you will find a clear list of the most widely read FirstSpirit documents and manuals with a brief description of their contents.

All documents are assigned to user groups. (In the menu on the left-hand side you can find the documents relevant for the respective user group with a click.)

*** New in FirstSpirit Version 5.0 ***

With FirstSpirit 5.0 a range of functional innovations and improvements has been implemented. The main focus is on “Usability”, which is reflected in particular in the fully redesigned WebClient, but also in the revised JavaClient. With new design and new functionality, Content Management is even more fun now!

But not only User Experience in the back end has been further improved – also functions for example for online marketing and easy cross-project reuse of content have been realized.

All new functions in FirstSpirit 5.0 and modifications are listed and described in detail in the FirstSpirit Release Notes:

Sub-division by user groups

For editors: All functions and aspects are explained from the view of an editor. This document describes the maintenance of editorial contents in the FirstSpirit editing environment (JavaClient) or within a web browser (WebClient).

For developers: All functions and aspects are explained from the view of a developer. This document deals with the creation of templates for designing contents. Editorial aspects are not taken into account.

For administrators: All administrative aspects, for example for installation and configuration of the FirstSpirit environment.

Further aspects of the documentation

Apart from the manuals for editors, developers and administrators, further documents are available under the menu item: Additional Documentation on FirstSpirit functions for which licenses are required.

The menu item: Technical Documentation contains the Technical Data Sheet as well as the Release Notes for the newest FirstSpirit Version.

Language selection

Language selection

The documentation for Version 5.0 is available in English and German for our international customers. Please notice that the German version of our documentation is normally more up to date than the English version.

Online Documentation: The language in the online documentation is changed using the ComboBox in the top part of the window (cf. Figure: "Language selection").

Further documentation: The PDF documents made available in the "Documentation" area are listed in tabular form. Click the PDF icon in the required table cell to open the documentation in the respective language. Several frequently required documents are located in the table listed below.

FirstSpirit Manual for Editors JavaClient

Comprehensive documentation on the FirstSpirit JavaClient for editors. From the first-time starting of the editing environment through to individual menu items, all aspects relevant for editors are described here and are clearly and vividly explained using screenshots.

FirstSpirit Manual for Editors (WebClient)

Detailed documentation on editorial work in FirstSpirit WebClient. The WebClient offers the editor the possibility of making editorial changes directly in the browser. To keep use and user prompting as simple and understandable as possible, the WebClient does not provide the full functional scope of the FirstSpirit editing environment (JavaClient).

FirstSpirit Manual for Administrators

Comprehensive documentation on configuration and administration of the FirstSpirit editing environment. Among other things, working with the application for Server and Project Configuration are described here. In addition, the "Server Monitoring" and "JMX Console" applications are explained.
