FirstSpirit ExaleadIntegration

This document describes the different possibilities for integrating the Content Management System FirstSpirit and the Enterprise search engine technology EXALEAD ONE:ENTERPRISE (brief „Exalead“).

In general, both products can be used independently. But, in combination both modern technologies can be connected with each other so that the user of the website, who wants to find specific information within FirstSpirit contents in a simple way, has a high usage value.

The following three aspects are described:

  • Architecture of the integration solution between FirstSpirit and Exalead
  • Description of the FirstSpirit runtime component for displaying Exalead search results (webserver-sided)
  • Explanation of different ways how to provide documents with rights and of how to use the Push-API for transferring documents into the index

Developers

  • Chapter 2: describes the architecture of integration solutions and the necessary components by means of diagrams.
  • Chapter 3: describes installation and configuration of the module „FirstSpirit Exalead Live“.
  • Chapter 4: This chapter deals with the possibilities how to provide documents with rights. In this context the use of the Push-API is explained, too, which allows documents to be transferred into the index separately.
  • Chapter 5: The Push-API provides an interface for transferring documents directly into the index of the search engine („push“). By this means, changes at documents can be given notice to the index immediately, without the next crawling date must be awaited. In this chapter the steps necessary for configuring the Push-API and the available methods of the helper class are explained by means of an example.
  • Chapter 6: explains the usage, installation and configuration of the FirstSpirit module “Exalead Content-Update”. This allows to transfer content generated in FirstSpirit directly after the generation into the search index by using the Push-API. In this way, this content are not indexed during the next run of the crawler but it can be indexed earlier.
