What is a CMS?

You will often have seen in practice how laborious and complicated it can be if a large website has to be maintained. Each small change must be realised on many sub-pages. This is laborious, time-consuming and cost intensive. A Content Management System (CMS) simplifies the change of contents through the separation of content, layout and structure of a website .

As the name says, a Content Management System manages content. The size of a website does not play any role in this. Users of Content Management Systems are called editors because, just like a newspaper editor, they maintain, change and create editorial content. To this end they can access a graphic user interface (GUI) in FIRSTspirit with which the necessary changes can be made easily, efficiently and above all without knowledge of web design. This makes the maintenance of a project just as easily as creating a text in a word processing program. Maintenance of content in FIRSTspirit primarily takes place in the so-called Page Store.
