The Java Servlet Specification 3.0 introduced "pluggability" features which require the server to scan web applications for annotations. This enum describes configuration options enabling or disabling these features and thus control if annotation scanning is performed. For details, see chapter 8 of the Java Servlet Specification 3.0 (JSR315).
